What to Do When a Number Gets Disconnected Repeatedly

Modified on Sat, 29 Mar at 9:21 AM

The main reason for a number getting disconnected can vary depending on whether it is a WhatsApp Business API number, a VoIP number, or a mobile carrier number.

Common Reasons for Number Disconnection:

1. WhatsApp Business API & WhatsApp Business Numbers

  • Violation of WhatsApp Policies – If the number is used for spam, excessive messaging, or policy violations, WhatsApp may disconnect or ban it.

  • Inactivity – If the number remains unused for an extended period, WhatsApp may remove it from the system.

  • Unverified Business Account – If the business verification is not completed, WhatsApp may revoke API access.

  • Phone Number Reassignment – If the number is reassigned by the telecom provider, WhatsApp may disconnect it.

  • Frequent Device or IP Changes – Constantly switching devices or IP addresses may trigger security restrictions.

Reason: This issue occurs because the server did not receive certain events, preventing the database from updating correctly. A database correction is required, and the user must rescan the QR code.

Troubleshooting Steps:

  1. Clear the cache and cookies of your browser.

  2. Try to log out and log in again.

  3. Disconnect the number from your phone (steps below).

  4. Go to ControlHippo—you will see a red notification to reconnect the number.

  5. Click on the "Reconnect" button.

  6. Rescan the QR code to reconnect the number.

Steps to Disconnect the Number from Your Phone:

  1. Open WhatsApp and go to Settings.

  2. Click on Linked Devices.

  3. Remove the device where ControlHippo is connected.
